Much of the city of Georgetown sits below sea-level making it vulnerable to flooding from sea-level rise, which is exacerbated the threat caused by the growing frequency in heavy rainfall events. In addition to this, the regularity of droughts through the dry season is on the rise. These issues have led to significant damage and economic loss in our city, even in the current climate. With climate projections indicating a worsening scenario, it is important that we take climate change seriously and apply measures to protect the Capital City Georgetown.
