Empowering Cities, Transforming Futures

Cities play a crucial role in driving climate action and achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement. While global commitments provide direction, local governments need targeted support to turn their climate plans into concrete projects. This publication, a collaborative effort by the City Climate Finance Gap Fund, the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy (GCoM), and ICLEI, showcases the impactful role of the GCoM-Gap Fund Partnership and the Step-Up Project (SUP) in supporting cities across Africa and South America.

Through tailored technical assistance, peer-to-peer learning, and regional Communities of Practice, the GCoM-Gap Fund Partnership and SUP are helping cities bridge early-stage project preparation gaps. This effort equips local governments with the skills and resources needed to advance from concept to implementation, fostering climate resilience and low-carbon development in urban areas. Discover the transformative power of partnerships and how they empower cities to tackle pressing climate challenges and unlock investment opportunities.
